Counselling & Psychotherapy

How we will work:

I have been trained extensively in Counselling,  Psychotherapy and Social Work and have over 30 years of experience in these fields. My approach to therapy is eclectic. This means that I use in a number of recognised modalities and traditions and can draw from different ways of thinking, having access to a great variety of techniques. This enables us to choose, explore and create a treatment that is most suitable and effective for you.

The therapies  I integrate are experiential, humanistic therapies ( including Rapid Core Healing, Psychodrama and Gestalt therapy), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy and Psychodynamic concepts.

What is most important  is that you will be heard and find benefit.   Methods, modalities, techniques and tools are secondary to your needs.  They will be matched with you and your circumstances, not the other way round.   You are always centre stage.

My role is to help facilitate your process in collaboration with you. It is important that I understand your reality. During the process we will explore what wants to be transformed while we are working towards your becoming, moving forward, seeking strengths and finding new ways of being or adjusting what is no longer useful.

We work predominantly in the here and the now, bringing matters of the past and the future into the present. This means that we focus on topics that come forward because you brought them in or because they arise as a result of the flow of our interaction. If they are matters of the past it means they are still active today and they will be dealt with in the present and in relation to how they still affect you now. This is with in mind to eradicate their negative influence in your life and transform them into sources of wisdom and power.
